It’s time to turn up the heat with SA’s newest festival venue, bringing you the hottest acts in the country.

This electrifying event promises to be a celebration of local talent, legendary rock acts, and the unrivaled hospitality of the Klein Karoo.

Ladismith Cheese and Karoo62 are your hosts for this special weekend of 7weekspoort Challenge Race and its post-race concert, KarooRocks.

KarooRocks is dedicated to showcasing the incredible talent of South African rock bands, bringing legends and rising stars to one stage.

As the race village of the renowned 7WeeksPoort Challenge Race, KarooRocks will serve as the ultimate celebration for participants and spectators alike. After conquering the challenging terrain of the race, participants can unwind and celebrate their achievements with a day of exhilarating music and entertainment.

Francois van Coke

We are thrilled to announce that the incomparable Francois van Coke will be headlining the Karoo Rocks Festival! With his raw vocals, infectious energy, Francois is legend that always delivers a show-stopping performance.

Valiant Swart

Valiant Swart is an Afrikaans folk/rock singer from Wellington, South Africa. He currently resides in Onrus River, Hermanus, South Africa. He writes and sings mainly in Afrikaans. He has performed both locally and internationally.

Spoegwolf

Spoegwolf is an Afrikaans rock band from Paarl, South Africa, founded in 2012. The group consists of Moskou du Toit (drums, percussion) Chris von Wielligh (guitar, piano), Albert van der Merwe (bass guitar, vocals, rap), and Danie du Toit (vocals, guitar).

Betty’s Nuklear

Betty’s Nuklear is an alternative desert rock band from the Garden Route, South Africa. Putting their energy, sweat and passion into creating a show you won’t forget. The vast mash-up of influences are insane and range from a touch of jazz and progressive metal in the rhythm section with Shane Carew on the drums.

Earth Blues

Earth Blues is a dynamic three-piece blues rock band hailing from Cape Town, South Peninsula. Since their inception in late 2021, this young and vibrant group has been making waves on the local music scene.

FRANCOIS VAN COKE rose to fame as the iconic front man of legendary South African rock bands Fokofpolisiekar and the defunct Van Coke Kartel before he kicked his solo career into gear in 2015 with the release of ‘Toe Vind Ek Jou’ featuring Karen Zoid. Since then, he has released four popular solo albums – Francois van Coke, Hierdie is die Lewe, Dagdrome in Suburbia and Kanniedood.

Up to date, Francois has won 6 SAMA awards as part of Fokofpolisiekar, Van Coke Kartel and as a solo artist.

Francois is celebrated as South Africa’s premium live solo rock act; always in demand and with regular sold-out shows. His biggest feat being the two sold-out arena shows at Time Square in Pretoria in 2018 and 2019 known as ‘Francois van Coke & Vriende’. These premium events showcased his collaborations with South Africa’s finest talent including Riky Rick, Karen Zoid, Early B, Spoegwolf, Fokofpolisiekar, Jack Parow and many more.

VALIANT SWART (born Pierre Nolte, 25 November 1965), is a South African musician, Afrikaans folk rock singer-songwriter, and actor from Wellington.

Born in Wellington, he resided in Stellenbosch. In 1977, at 11 years old, Valiant was given a guitar by his father and taught himself to play songs from artists like George Baker and Joe Dolan. Two years later he owned his first electric guitar. He writes and sings in both English and Afrikaans. The work that was begun by artists like Anton Goosen and, later, Koos Kombuis was continued by Swart.

He has released a great number of albums debuting in 1996 with the album Die Mystic Boer. In 2014, he released a collaboration with the South African rapper Jack Parow called Tema van jou lied.

He is most famous for his song “Sonvanger” (meaning sun catcher) from his 2002 album Maanhare. He wrote the song after the suicide of a young Afrikaans musician from Stellenbosch. Swart wrote it with the musician’s mother in mind, longing for her lost son.

He adds in an interview: “The song has since taken on a life of its own; it seems to have brought comfort to a lot of bereaved people, which, to be honest, makes me feel real good.”

The song has been covered multiple times notably by Corlea BothaJurie ElsLaurika RauchKaren ZoidTheuns Jordaan and Refentse.

SPOEGWOLF is an award-winning Afrikaans group based out of Paarl, South Africa, Spoegwolf (translates to “Spitwolf”) emerged in the early 2010s with a melody-driven blend of driving alternative rock and thoughtful folk-pop. In 2019, on the strength of their acclaimed fourth full-length effort, the trauma-themed concept LP Koma, they became the first Afrikaans band to top the digital streaming music charts.

Established in 2012, Spoegwolf is comprised of Moskou du Toit (drums, percussion, and vocals), Chris von Wielligh (guitar and piano), Albert van der Merwe (bass and vocals), and Danie du Toit (vocals and guitar). Since debuting in 2012 with Swaartekrag, which includes two of their biggest hits, “Lenie Blou” and “Somerset-Wes,” the band has issued a string of well-received albums, including Somer (2014), Die Donker Toring (2017), Koma (2019), and See (2020), the latter of which saw Spoegwolf embark on their first European tour.

BETTY’S NUKLEAR is an alternative desert rock band from the Garden Route, South Africa. Putting their energy, sweat and passion into creating a show you won’t forget.

The vast mash-up of influences are insane and range from a touch of jazz and progressive metal in the rhythm section with Shane Carew on the drums. Accompanied by the hard-hitting bassist from the north, Anthonie Botha. Who brings more of a blues rock feel to the cauldron.

The hard riffs are provided to you by Dean Clark, with a hard rock/pop influence and a commendable skill in the theoretical world we bring you, our sound! Frontman and lyricists Chad Abnett derives his influence from a wide range of eras but always stays true to the classic rock tone and progressive/ambient melodies that allows you to be immersed by the music.

The provisions of this agreement are drawn to the attention of the Indemnifying Party where the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 applies to the relationship between KAROO 62 ESCAPE PRIVATE NATURE RESERVE (the indemnified party) and the Nature Reserve Day Visitor / Lodge Visitor / Cottage Visitor/ Visitor’s Guests / Customers / Events Attendees of the Karoo62 Escape Nature Reserve and/or Karoo62 Escape Resort & Events Visitors (indemnifying parties), the effect of this agreement is that the indemnifying party may have limited or no recourse against the Indemnified Party in the circumstances referred to herein.

  • When signing the agreement, you state that you have chosen to visit and take part in the activity being offered by the Indemnified Party (the Activity) of your own free will.
  • You indemnify the indemnified party, its members, directors and employees against all claims, losses, demands, actions, damages and causes of action whatsoever arising directly or indirectly out of my acts connected with or arising out of the Activity, whether suffered by you or any other third party, and you hold the indemnified party harmless there from.
  • You understand that the Activity may be inherently dangerous and may create certain risks to persons that can result in property damage and serious physical injury. You further understand that the Indemnified Party, its officers, employees and agents will not be and/or are not responsible for any injuries, property damage or liability that may arise from your participation in the Activity. You assume full responsibility for the decision, and the consequences thereof, to take part in the Activity.
  • You thereby release, agree to indemnify and hold the Indemnified Party, its officers,
    employees and agents free and harmless from any and all costs, losses, expenses, damages (direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise), claims, suits, causes of action or any other liability or responsibility whatsoever, including attorney’s fees and related costs, resulting from any injury to any person(s) or damage to property arising out of, or which may in any manner be connected with, said Activity as provided herein.
  • You thereby confirm that you are aware that the Indemnified Party does have the necessary Personal Liability Cover in place and which is limited up to an amount of R20 Million Rand and that should you suffer personal damages that could result in the Indemnified party being held liable for such damages after investigation by Insurers, then in that instance you agree to limit my claim to an amount equal to no more (maximum) than the amount of personal indemnity cover that is in place at the time of the incident or activity that allegedly caused the damages and waive any amount that is in access thereof and shall have no claim or recourse therefore against the Indemnified Party.
  • MINORS
    Where the Indemnifying Party is a minor (younger than 18 (eighteen) years), the Indemnifying Party agrees to be and has been assisted by a parent/guardian in agreeing to this agreement and such parent/guardian has consented to the Indemnifying Party participating in the Activity.
